Doesn't this just mean you should buy stock in new ammo manufacturers, since "the already strained new manufacturers will be unable to meet demand"
I wouldn't really think so, since entry to the ammo market shouldn't have many barriers (not that hard to make a bullet). So if current manufacturers can't keep up, it seems to imply that new manufacturers will join the market to bring it back to equilibrium.
Color me skeptical on the whole threat of ammo unavailaibility...

I think you are correct that new manufacturers are potentially a good investment, at least until the market stabilizes. We are already on a tear of 5 months of blistering sales. Once the ammo markets begin to stabilize the little guy is going to have a hard time kicking the Remington's of the world off the corner since they hold the cornerstone for quality, accuracy, price, and name recognition.
I think the most important thing to take from that article is that the ability to reload our own weapons is going to become harder and harder. You will only be able to use recycled brass from your own stash...for now. If it gets to the point that all brass must be scrapped, there goes the ability to reuse. We then will have to purchase the equipment to mold the bulk brass or buy new ammo at a potentially higher rate because you are at the mercy of the Remington's of the world.
What color is skeptical?

It's not that reloads wont be available. its that for some reason the govt has decided to cut out a profitable revenue generator to the civilian pop. to sell to the chinamen at a substantially reduced profit. startup ammo makers dont just spring up. its fairly easy to make new bullets when the production aspect has been mostly taken care of upstream. its quite difficult to make a bullet when you dont have the manufacturing capability to ture raw brass into shell casings, which most reload companies do not. quality reloads are a staple for the gun owning population and this only serves to limit cheaper rounds to the civilian. compound that with state, local, and federal "policing" agencies getting preferential treatment on bulk orders. reloads will still be available, just not to you in any meaningful way.

I went to ammoman.com to find that they are sold out of everything. Any other good sites.
